On this episode of the Stuck Nation Labor Radio Hour we are reflecting on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s pro-union legacy 55 years after his murder in Memphis where he came to support striking sanitation workers.

Part I: We hear from Scott Desnoyers, Medicare for All and New York Health Act activist. His son Daniel, who suffered from depression, committed suicide after his prescription was not filled because he had missed a $20 health insurance premium. Scott will bring us up to date on his efforts to get single payer health care and a preview of an exciting new documentary “Healing Us”, narrated by Susan Sarandon and directed by Kenny Valentine.

Past II: In the second half of the show, we get an update from Zellie Thomas with the Paterson Chapter of Black Lives Matter and Larry Hamm, founder of the People's Organization for Progress, on what’s going on in Paterson, New Jersey where 31-year-old Najee Seabrooks was killed by police. Last week, following a statewide outcry, NJ Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced a state takeover of the Paterson police.
